Hi! My name is Mariëlle. I’m currently Associate Professor in Internet Governance at Maastricht University, where I research internet freedom and the human rights’ implications of internet policy and platform governance, in particular in authoritarian states.

I regularly write analyses on Russian politics, internet policy and related topics, and provide commentary for Dutch and international media. I welcome media requests on, among other topics:
